Many say an only child is luck. Because the child is usually spoiled and be the center of attention from both parents. But beyond that, the researchers cautioned that parents supervise their child's mental development.
A study in 2010 revealed that a single child is more at risk of being a sociopath personality than children who have a brother. Sociopath is a form of mental disorder that causes the sufferer to have antisocial personality, as reported by Genius Beauty.
A sociopath can not distinguish good or bad deeds and do not understand the responsibilities and obligations in society. A sociopath can be very dangerous because they will not feel guilty when doing things that are not true, even though sadistic.
According to WHO (World Health Organization), a sociopath has the following symptoms:
- Can not sympathize or empathize with others
- Not concerned with social responsibility or normal.
- Does not have a close relationship or a long term with other people because of the difficulty caring relationship.
- Has a low tolerance, and easy to behave aggressively. They are also capable of doing violence easily and not feel guilty.
- Like to provoke an argument. Usually also cruel to animals.
- Have the ability to lie continuous or steal.
These results were obtained after the researchers make the observation of 20,000 children and adolescents. They found that children and adolescents who had at least one sibling has the ability to make contact with other people and can better resolve the conflict on their own without the help of an adult.
Yet researchers are still not sure that as an adult, factors have brothers or not is still an important factor that makes a person's risk of becoming a sociopath or problematic in terms of social interaction.
